What is MyZone?
MyZone is a new innovative heart rate based system that uses wireless and cloud technology to accurately and conveniently monitor physical activity. It monitors heart rate, calories and time exercising that converts into MyZone Effort Points (MEPs), with a focus on rewarding effort rather than fitness.
You will notice that some MyZone TV’s have gone up around in the centre. One in the Gym, one in the main area of the Group Fitness room and one at the front of the Cycle Class Bikes. If you are wearing your MyZone belt and you come within range of the MyZone TV’s, your belt will automatically sync up so that you can monitor your performance throughout your workout. The MyZone belts can also be worn when working out away from the centre, and when you return to the centre and sync your belt to the MyZone TV, your outside workouts will be uploaded to your account.
How can you get involved?
As of August, MyZone Belts will be available to purchase at reception. There are 2 types of Belts. The standard belt is $70. The Bluetooth Belt is $99 which allows you to see live data on your phone when exercising at or away from Bayfit. Once you have purchased a belt, you can go online to register. Myzone Watches are also be available to purchase for $50.
Our first MyZone Challenge will begin on 21st September 2015 and will run for 3 weeks. MyZone works by tracking your Heart Rate during workouts. You earn MEP’s (MyZone Effort Points) by maintaining your Heart Rate at a certain level for a period of time. Everyone has a different Max Heart Rate, so you don’t have to be the fittest person at Bayfit to win the challenge, you just need to challenge yourself.
90%+ of your Max Heart Rate (Red Zone) You will earn 4 MEP’s for every minute your are in that Zone
80-89% (Yellow Zone) 4 MEP’s/minute
70-79% (Green Zone) 3 MEP’s/minute
60-69% (Blue Zone) 2 MEP’s/minute
50-59% (Grey Zone) 1 MEP/minute
We will be posting regular updates online and at Bayfit to keep you up to date with how everyone is performing in the challenge. There will be prizes up for grabs for the top performers
